Design and Construction of the 0.85 MW Boiler House in Vändra
Description
In accordance with the tender requirements and the client’s needs, we designed, manufactured, and built a biofuel-fired boiler house as a turnkey solution – from fuel reception to ash removal. The thermal capacity of the boiler house is 850 kW at 55% fuel moisture content (nominal thermal capacity 980 kW).
The boiler’s maximum operating pressure is 6 bar, and the maximum permitted temperature is 110 °C.
The fuel reception system has a capacity of over 180 m³/h, and the fuel storage holds 230 cubic meters, which provides approximately one week of storage at full load operation
The biofuel boiler is connected to the district heating network along with gas-fired peak load boilers, which are housed in a container boiler unit located next to the new boiler house. This container boiler was relocated from its original position in Vändra to its new location. We also implemented automated cascade control between all three boilers.
The new biofuel boiler is designed to operate at least 8,240 hours per year within a power range of 25–100% of nominal capacity and to use wood chips with a moisture content of 35–60%. The off-heating season is allocated for regular maintenance, cleaning, and repairs.
For this project, we manufactured the main technological equipment of the boiler house – including the biomass boiler and furnace, fuel and ash conveyors, fuel reception system, moving floor fuel silo, piping, flue gas ducts, and air ducts.
